I recently came across some notes John and I wrote back and forth during science class. I think we were in maybe 10th or 11th grade. It was such a difficult time for me, and reading our notes (which consisted of funny, weird stories that John and I wrote together) reminded me of how kind he was to me, bolstering my spirit with his irreverent sense of humor. I know it has been many years since he passed away, but I am so sorry for your loss. What I knew of him was that he was consistently kind, brilliantly funny, generous of spirit and a bit mischievous. While we didn't keep in contact after high school, the simple value of kindness he showed me has stayed with me forever.

John is not forgotten about today. He is still in thoughts daily. John is a wonderful person that I think the world needs more of. He was taken before his time and many people suffered because of it. I believe he has found the peace he was looking for, even if he had to take round about way to get there. I love him like a brother and always will. I appreciate this memorial in his honor. Thank you.

This poem was on the program from the visitation:
Miss Me - But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss Me - But Let Me Go
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone
It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrow in remembering the good.
Miss Me - But Let Me Go
